Howdy!

I decided to start this blog in October of 2007 one day when I was fuming about another junk Internet Marketing product I’d just bought.

I pretty much buy them all as my “Day Job” is in a company that does Internet Marketing, Google AdWords, Google AdSense, and Search Engine Optimization for corporate websites.

I have been getting increasingly frustrated with the plethora of Google AdWords, Google AdSense, Affiliate Marketing, Web Marketing, and Blog Marketing junk out there.

Most of it is the same old crap, over and over again.

What frustrated me about this particular product, which shall remain nameless for now, is that not only was it the same old crap but it was specifically and only targeted to get you to click on affiliate links within the eBook.

There was no actual information, just teasers about how a particular technique would boost traffic, increase click-through rate, etc. followed by a list of “Recommended Products”, each of which was simply a link to the product with the author’s affiliate code embedded in the link so that, if you bought the product, he would get paid.

Some of you might not yet have realized that many of these low-cost and/or free eBooks are designed solely to get you to buy other products mentioned within the eBook using the author’s affiliate link embedded in the copy. More on that in an upcoming article.

For now, just realize that I’m here to debunk some things, tell it like it is, and generally try to convey what actually works in the Internet Marketing world. I’ll be writing a few articles, selling a few eBooks and generally stirring the proverbial pot.

I picked the WebCurmudgeon since it seemed to fit the way I felt then:

curmudgeon, noun

An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions.

At the particular moment that I chose to use this as my outlet, I was feeling ill-tempered and resentful.

As for the ’stubborn notions’ part, I am stubborn about a couple of things:

  • Products should provide the information that they say they do in a way that customers can actually use
  • It should be possible, using only the product, to obtain all of the benefits the promotion promises

Sure I’m ill-tempered and resentful about being ripped off, and stubborn about delivering actual value to customers.

You got a problem with that?
